IITT

Institute of IT Training

The Institute of IT Training is the world's first professional body for IT training professionals.

Launched in 1995, the Institute has made significant progress in developing and promoting high standards of excellence within the profession. Individual membership continues to grow rapidly as trainers perceive tangible benefits from being identified with their professional body.

The benefits of membership

Our objective is to make Institute membership a hallmark for professionalism and expertise in IT training for:

classroom trainers.
developers of classroom or on-line training materials.
on-line tutors.
training managers.
training consultants.

However, this is an ongoing and continuous process demanding the personal commitment of all towards raising their personal standards, and contributing towards the status of the profession.

The IITT is committed to assisting IT professionals to do that. Our work and resources are devoted to ensuring that training professionals, at all levels and in all disciplines, continually develop their full potential to achieve success for themselves and for the businesses in which they work. Professional membership of the IITT is the guarantee of the highest quality training and skills development skills.

Professional development and training
The IITT will welcome more than 2,000 delegates to Institute House for Professional Development courses during this year. For example, the IITT's unique TAP (Trainer Assessment Programme) best-practice methodology for training delivery skills is now widely accepted as the standard in the industry and is now being used throughout the world. Additionally, many members are keen to develop new skills in the e-Learning environment and certification in design and development skills, as well as online tutoring skills, is available through lnternet-delivered courses. Indeed all the courses in our current schedule have been specifically designed to assist IT trainers to develop along their chosen career path in training.

Accreditation Programmes
The lnstitute's Accreditation Programmes for training providers are raising organisational standards: more than 75% of the UK's IT training market by volume is now supplied by IITT-accredited providers. Many corporate internal training departments are also making a major commitment to raising their own standards by becoming accredited by the IITT.

Our code of practice
Naturally, the Institute's Code of Practice, to which all participants subscribe, promotes certification of training skills of all the organisation's IT trainers and this trend will increasingly add value to your membership.

Shaping the IT training industry
As a professional body, the IITT is perfectly placed to reflect and champion the position of training professionals. The IITT regularly conducts research on a number of skills-development issues. As an example, we have introduced the Training Salary Monitor report which keeps track of training professionals' salaries and benefits. Regular surveys also monitor Members' opinions on topical policy issues and current affairs, enabling the IITT to comment to the media and assist Government policy-making bodies.

Engendering best practice
As the driving force behind learning best practice, the IITT provides its growing membership with a wide range of benefits and support services. These include access to and advice on training development programmes, a well-resourced reference library, and the all-important networking facilities through regular meetings and the newly-developed Institute Web site.
