When Bristol City Council decided to introduce StarOffice as its new standard office software suite, it was on the basis of a thorough investigation of the work needed to configure StarOffice for Bristol’s specific requirements, package the software, deploy it to more than 5,000 workstations, and assist the end users with their migration towards using it as a replacement for their previous software.

This report describes the Deployment and Migration process used by Bristol and is supported by a pack of example files and documents created during this process. Further information on the Deployment Pack is provided by the "readme" file inside the pack.

Councils can use this information to speed up their implementation planning and reduce overall costs when introducing StarOffice.
